This technical briefing provided details on the new Medicare Advantage (MA) bidding and payment calculation process, which is aimed at increasing plan choices for beneficiaries. Speakers presented an overview of Medicare's experience with private plans to date, discussed similarities and differences with the new payment methods enacted as part of the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003, and provided bidding and payment examples.
